Unexpectancy: Home Sweet Home Shorty and her partner, Max Mondo, were originally surrendered to a public shelter at the end of 2013 when their owner died. Purrfect Pals rescued them and they were adopted together in early 2014. When Max was diagnosed with cancer they were both returned to the shelter, where Max died at the end of 2014. Things were looking up for Shorty when she was adopted a few weeks after she lost her buddy Max. Then 2 years later, at the end of 2016, she was returned to the shelter again. When we posted her story in January, we were unaware Deb had already fallen in love with her but the timing for adoption was wrong. Fortunately, Shorty wasn't adopted until the timing was right for her to go home with Deb! Shorty, (now Sweet Pea)'s new family had a tumultuous fall and winter in 2016. Her new mom was busy caring for her ailing stepfather when one of their 3 cats passed away unexpectedly around Christmas. Although her initial inclination was not to add another cat to the household, she began following several tuxedo cats on our website but says Shorty was the one who captured her heart. Unable to adopt while she was caring for her stepfather, she was afraid someone else would recognize how wonderful Shorty was, but Shorty remained unadopted. Following her stepfather's death the end of January, Deb came to meet Shorty and then took her home just in time for Shorty to be her birthday gift. In her recent update she says, "Sweet Pea is just the cutest, sweetest, most perfectly behaved and well-adjusted little kitty I've ever met. It just breaks my heart that the only reason she hadn't been adopted sooner was that she was ten years old. I will never adopt anything other than a senior kitty for the rest of my life. They are the best." Deb tells us Sweet Pea hid initially, then got the courage to begin coming out and spending time on the bed with her. She says it wasn’t long before she started acting like she owned the place. We're thrilled with this update and happy knowing Sweet Pea has landed in what is obviously the perfect home for her!

I'LL GO HOME TO BED YESSS I THINK THATS EXACTLY WHAT I'LL DO AND WHY NOT A BRUCE WANE,,, ISN'T DOING ANYTHING TOMORROW NIGHT,,, ANYWAY MANA "The Forgotten Shadow of the Bat in the 1980s" - 1985: "Just as Night Follows Day...": Acclaimed writer Doug Moench, who celebrates his 69th birthday today (February 23), brings focus to the humanity of the man behind the cowl in "Just as Night Follows Day", originally published in Batman (Vol 1) 383 from May 1985, illustrated by Gene Colan, Adrienne Roy and Alfredo Alcala. Although our hero appears at his best in the nighttime streets and alleys of Gotham City, the story begins at dawn where Batman returns to Wayne Manor and Bruce is exhausted, in need of a good day's rest. However, Bruce learns that his day is filled with errands and unexpected visits; after painters come to Wayne Manor for maintenance work, Jason Todd's (the newest Robin) school bus breaks down, causing Bruce to not only drive him to school but get lectured by his principal about Jason falling asleep in class (due to his late nights). Once Bruce returns home, from Lucius Fox discussing Wayne Enterprises to current flame Vicki Vale stopping by to talk about the next steps in their relationship, by this time Jason needs to be picked up from school and they both have a meeting about formally adopting Jason. The night comes and Bruce Wayne transforms into Batman, stopping what seemed to be non stop criminals. The issue ends with dawn breaking once again and an overly exhausted Batman fittingly falls asleep on a gargoyle atop a building, knowing both Bruce Wayne has no meetings or agenda for today and he can finally rest. One of the few issues in this era to have Bruce Wayne be the predominant figure instead of Batman, Moench's entertaining story showcases one of the most favorited qualities of the Caped Crusader: being human. ✌🏼💙📖🎨🦇
