Athena’s hands were tied. Yes, she was a powerful Goddess, but she was very much a woman in a “boys club”, and the true offending party (don’t think for a moment that Athena blamed Medusa for being raped in the temple, Athena knows better) held all the cards. There was nothing that Athena could do to punish the true criminal, and she was expected to punish Medusa by everyone else. What’s a Goddess to do when she cannot punish those who need to be punished and is expected to punish not only the truly innocent party, but her most beloved follower? Use that incredible brain power she had to protect Medusa at all costs, and of course the men would see it as punishment, to be have her beauty stripped from her and sent to live in the shadows. Medusa should have been KILLED for supposedly defiling the temple, whether she truly did or not, but she was given the gift of life, and the ability to protect herself and her daughters (who she bore thanks to Poseidon). Children, Destiny, and God: I dig this for a couple of reasons. First, it's got great style. Perhaps more interestingly though, is that it's a very different tone as far as the direction of aggression. Most people know the Clash of the Titans version where she's on the hunt for him once he shows up. But let's face it, Medusa really gets the shaft from destiny overal She starts out as a priestess in a temple who gets raped by Poseidon and gets cursed for it as if it was all her fault. The result is that she's basically doomed to live without human contact for eternity. Then she's hunted down specifically for her head by a demigod whose got all sorts of great toys and backing to get the job done and depicted as some sort of horrible monster for defending her turf from folks out to kill her There are some really interesting theories about regarding just what the whole 'gorgon thing was really about from a historical perspective. It's really quite a tragic tale about the rise of patriarchy and the purge of goddess-centric worshipers. There are also parallels to the Apollo versus Typhon story which is part of the same0 era. I work in hotels/resorts, and honestly, take the little shampoos and soaps! We throw them away when you leave (we don’t know if you’ve opened them and messed with them or whatever, so for health and safety it all goes in the trash)If you stay at the fancier places or chains, they’ve actually done some bit of thought into the scents for the toiletries, in that if you use them while at home you’ll remember the time you stayed at the hotel and be more likely to return.Just don’t take the towels or the robes or any of that shit, it’s expensive. This is true, all soaps, shampoos, and the like are tossed after a guest checks out of the hotel even if it’s clearly unopened because it is considered a health hazard violation in most places if they’re left there. If someone were to somehow get sick from it, a hotel can be shut down. Just take the toiletries, they’re ordered in bulk as is and only cost the hotel a few dollars to order them by the hundreds And even if you don’t use them, you can donate them to your local homeless shelter or other similar charity and give someone something they could use that would otherwise go to waste. PLEASE TAKE THE SOAPS. PLEASE DONATE THE SOAPS. It’s one of the biggest requests shelters/supply banks get. You want to make their fucking day? Show up with socks, undies, diapers, and toiletries.

Advice, Ass, and Cats: SHAME YOUR CAT HOW #MyCatFromhell Every cat's life is worth something. academicfeminist: anightvaleintern: himteckerjam: rogueofstorms: drunkvanity: femmadilemma: bornthiswayward: #i’ve reblogged this like twice#and i think some people are reblogging this as a joke#but bless this man and what he stands for how is this funny to anyone. Those people obviously don’t realize the extremely high kill rate for cats at shelters, not to mention that people literally dump indoor cats outside when they don’t want them anymore, and indoor cats often die due to starvation/predators (duh they have no survival skills).   Also - I might also be crying. Jackson Galaxy is awesome. His story is is that he used to be a drug addict, and that while he was in the beginning of his recovery he saved a stray cat and nursed it back to life, and in return the cat essentially did the same for him, and ever since then, he’s taught himself everything there is to know about cats and their behavior. Cats saved his life, so he’s saving cats lives. He’s awesome. His show has taught me more about how to take care of a cat than I learned from growing up with one. Jackson Galaxy is the patron fucking saint of cats and I swear to god I will fight anybody coming for him.You will catch these hands. I don;t like when people make fun of Jackson Galaxy when he gets emotional. Because a.) I get really fucking emotional over cats too, fuck you and b.) it’s mostly because he’s a man and a patriarchal belief that men can’t cry or have feelings. PLUS! He actually gives GREAT behavior advice, unlike another TV personality who works with canines and shall not be named because my blood pressure can’t handle his ass rn
