They kept 6% of the profit for themselves as a royalty payment for extracting our resources and selling them back to us. Rockefeller, paying 94% tax, was still the richest man in the world and a philanthropist. Our government used the taxes to provide health, education, job training, low cost home loans and retirement benefits for our citizens. The graduated income tax (those with the greatest resources and incomes paid the most, those in the lower income levels paid the least) helped America become the richest nation with the largest middle class on earth. Until..</p> <p>Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney and the Bushes cut the taxes on the richest among us, and the corporations they owned, to little or nothing, foisting upon us the ludicrous idea a few people, including themselves, should own our natural resources in a scheme they call “Privatization”. </p> <p>After Kissenger/Cheney’s “Endless War” scheme, Privatization became the worst of their legacy. They put the fortune in tax dollars we paid for their phony “defense contracts”, into their offshore and Swiss Bank Accounts, starving our treasury to the tune of 17 Trillion Dollars and virtually eliminating the middle class. Cheney’s company, Halliburton, profits from his term as VP and President* Cheney says “Debt Doesn’t Matter”. It Doesn’t..To him. He got the money. His intention is to foist the “debt” onto you and me. Best we forgive the debt and move on. </p> <p>What is Private? Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Hardware Stores, Resorts, Casino’s, laundries, Dry Cleaners, Liquor stores, retail outlets, auto manufacturing, etc. Anything that does not use public resources as its product. Should Jails be privately owned? No, they get all their money from the our public judicial system. Neither you, nor I, nor Corrections Corporation of America, have any right to own and operate prisons for profit. </p> <p>Should you and I be able to have our own Private armies and the weapons of war? No. Neither you, I or Blackwater/XE, has any right to own armies or the weapons of war. That is a public function. Private “war contractors”, and their “for profit” mercenary soldiers, should be eliminated forever by cancelling and never reissuing all their “contracts”. </p> <p>Our government of by and for the people,“ Democracy”, is a good thing.<br/>This co-oped government of by and for corporations, “Fascism”, is a bad thing and should be eliminated in the next budget and the 2016 election.<br/><br/>There’s a pathetic excuse in this country that hard work and merit equates success.
