Here is to the unsung heroes. Removed from the celebrities and popular cultures of our current society, are the not so celebrated individuals and the brilliant cultures that make the world a better place to live. Nowadays it is not cool to be on time, to care, to have less money, to go out on a limb for others, or to deliver random acts of kindness. It ain't "gangster" if you praise people for being amazing humanitarians that make life worth living, or when your turntup but you aren't drunk. If you study hard and are able to hold a decent conversation you are a geek. You're probably not going to get a Nobel peace prize for volunteering in an African village, administering food and care to orphans, or for marching on government shouting "stop bombing killing citizens!" As we all know the people who move 30,000 troops into Afghanistan are destined for such awards. Selflessness is a route that few people take, often for a short amount of time. But some do for the whole of their lives. When they do it is quite beautiful, here is to the unsung heroes in the world. The nurses, volunteers, philanthropists, recyclers, carers, helpers, donators, lovers and the fighters who aren't scared to stand up for who and what they believe in. The doctors, the spiritual leaders of self love, the well wishers and do gooders, the energy givers, those who don't give to receive but just to give. Those who prioritise the needs of others over their own wants. Those who dedicate their time, and those who dedicate their lives, to helping others and the world. Those who do things for free for people, just because they love people. Even if you will never be hailed a celebrity, never be rich, never have a jay z song dedicated to you. You are cool in my eyes, respect and you have the support of real people, which is better than the following of a materialistic society. Do your knees sound like popcorn in the microwave when you squat?! (Find out why today!)👇🏼 . This cracking' noise is often caused by stiffness in our body. Try this simple progression & see if it helps👇🏼 . 1️⃣foam roll the quads for 2 minutes (searching out stiff spots in the muscle). You want to be a mean massage therapist to yourself so don't stray away from spots that hurt a bit! This will help improve your soft tissue pliability without any decreases in performance✅ 2️⃣lightly stretch the quads. The couch stretch is a great way to do this. A 30 second stretch will decrease stiffness in the muscles without a decrease in power production for your workout✅ 3️⃣mobilize into a position you'll then be using in your workout. I love the goblet squat stretch. Take a kettle bell or a plate & sit into a deep squat (shoes off or flat sole shoe is preferred). Hold this for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Then re-rest your squat and see how it feels🏋🏽 . If your 'cracking' continues, is accompanied with pain, I recommend getting screened by a sports physical therapist as this may be an issue that requires a more individual approach to fixing . Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) seems to have become an epidemic in the United States, with roughly 19% of Americans diagnosed. Meanwhile, in France, the diagnosis rate is only .5%. So what explains such a wide disparity? Well, first and foremost, one must recognize that ADHD is an extremely questionable "disorder." A few decades ago, ADHD would have just been called "boredom." In fact, even Dr. Edward C. Hamlyn of the Royal College of General Practitioners stated, "ADHD is fraud intended to justify starting children on a life of drug addiction." Confessing before his death, Leon Eisenberg—one of the "founding fathers" of ADHD as a psychiatric disorder—said, "ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease." In France, there are numerous cultural differences compared to the U.S. Generally, the French discourage the consumption of chemical-processed foods much more than in America. This is especially true for children in school, who often eat meals that are prepared by chefs-in-training using ingredients from local produce and livestock. With all the high fructose corn syrup, GMO foods, stimulants, allergens, etc. in our children's diets, no wonder they cannot focus or stay calm. Plus they are children! Children naturally tend to be active and energetic, which is why constraining them to an assigned seat in a prison-like classroom provokes misbehavior. Do schoolchildren have a "deficit in attention", or are they just bored out of their minds? When you cannot pay attention to a boring film, do you assume it is because you have a mental disorder that inhibits your ability to focus? Of course not! You walk out of the theater and demand a refund! Instead of questioning what we feed our kids or the schools we put them in, our default assumption is that there's something inherently wrong with our children.  POSITIVE THINKING
Fear is an illusion. Fear dictates our choices and actions all through life, and we don’t even realize it. We create scenarios in our minds, and then we feed off them. Fear is a reaction to a perceived threat—imagined or real.Perceived threat. Meaning often times, the threat is not even real. It may be a threat, or it may not be. Often we create the threat. We create the scenario that feeds the fear. We let it control us, and the imagined scenarios we draw up in our minds never actually take place. It never happens. We let fear control us and keep us trapped. It prevents us from taking part in things we would really like to do, and we make up excuses and lies in our mind about how we aren’t interested in said activity anyway—so why bother doing it? We tell ourselves,“Nah that’s not for me,” and we don’t even try. When we don’t understand something, we judge it. The fear comes when we allow the non-understanding of something to threaten us. The power step here is admitting that it is not the outside thing that is actually the threat—it is our mind creating the threat. Is the threat real or imagined? Is it based off of someone else’s information? Have I explored it myself? Because we are too ensnared in our comfort zones to push outside of them, we stay in them—comfy and warm, living safe little lives that are more of just an existence. We live there in the illusion of safety and security, pretending we have a grip. I’m not saying there isn’t joy and happiness to be found in comfort zones—there is—but there is no greatness. There is no magic, and that’s what we find outside the comfort zone and outside the fear. Mastering our fears is about taking our power back. It’s about taking control and charge of our own lives. It’s about not allowing perceived or actual threats to rule our lives. It’s about facing things we don’t understand, or feel threatened by, and challenging ourselves to remain open long enough to examine our fear. It allows us to determine if there really is a threat or if the threat is perceived. It lets us form our own beliefs and rewrite them as they no longer serve us.
