I know I say this every time, but I’m saying it again: THEY DONT PUT NAMES IN HEADLINES UNLESS ITS AN INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE NAME. They’re not being disrespectful. That’s just how headlines work. They’re not gonna write “John Smith Saves Toddler From a Well” they’re gonna write “Pennsylvania Man Saves Toddler From Well” and then put his name in the article. Most people aren’t gonna click a link/continue reading an article that says John Smith, because who the fuck is that, and why do I care about him? Now, if it was, like, Kim Kardashian saving a kid from a well, you bet your ass they’re gonna put her name in the headline. That’s clickbait GOLD. Her name is instantly recognizable. We know who she is, and we wanna read on.


Again, I’m saying this because, if we focus on the headline not saying Theresa’s name…it completely detracts the focus off the fact that this woman is a damn hero. We’re more upset and angry that she’s been “disrespected” (even though she hasn’t) by the, like, first rule of writing headlines, instead of saying “hey, she is saving these young girl’s lives, how can we help her?” Basically, share the article. Spread her message, share her story, and make Theresa’s name so goddamn well known that the next article that’s written about her WILL have her name in the headline.


Also @ anyone who says “why don’t they say their name!!!!” Consider this:
If you actually click on the damn thing and READ the article, I can guarantee you will learn the person’s name. It WILL be within the body of the article itself. So why are y’all acting like it’s a big mystery/ they’re deliberately erasing them or something? 
Aren’t you reading the article? If it really was so important to you, it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to read and learn her name, instead of you know, sharing it without reading it for woke points. 👀👀👀👀👀


Hello I’m a journalist and this is exactly right. Names are news but only if people know them already. I’m so tired of seeing this all the time. It’s a completely nonsense thing to get mad about.  Ok story time. Yeaaaars ago i dated an animator chick. During that short
 time together we ran around a lot and met a bunch of industry people in
 our area
 One of them used to work for Disney. So we are hanging out at his
 apartment and conversation being what it is he kinda says "hold on" and
 goes off to dig in the closet. He comes back and sets down a couple
 STACKS (and im talking foot high) of printer paper.
 What followed were a couple hours of hysterical laughing as we paged
 through "a history of Disney animation- porn edition"
 See Disney has this weird rule in their artist contracts- everything you
 create while in their employ is THEIRS. Even in the off time. Its one of the
 reasons they are reviled in the industry. But the rule was set in place to
 basically steal good ideas from their staff or force them to ONLY work on
 Disney ip's while employed..
 The jokes
 on them though. They didn't count on most artists being giant
 perverts (this story is also why i laugh when people tell me drawing smut
 will 'ruin your art career')
 So! Disney being bastards ended up earning them smut of everything
 they've ever created. And also per their policies they had to keep it. Every
 artist knew about the smut vault and our buddy here had photocopied a
 chunk of it. Yes... 2-3 feet of smut was
 just a chunk of it
 Snow white? Rescue rangers? Goofy? Minnie? Micky? Beauty and the
 beast? Aladdin? Yup you name it it was there. Some of it was mild. The
 topless little mermaid stuff made sense at least. Some was raunchy as hell.
 ALL OF IT in the animation style of the films and shows.
 So yes, not only does Disney know there will be porn, have the porn, but
 they official porn

“I struggled to reconcile my feelings toward my father’s absence in my life, while continuing to care deeply for him and other homeless individuals.”

this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life

This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?
Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.
So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.
