HEY NERDITES!!! I'M BACK (for the next 24 or so hours, my captor has been all supreme in her kindness and generosity, to give me back a laptop and some vital internets [but seriously, no laptop and no internets makes Dark Willow go something something...] because I'd like to talk about a topic that's very dear to my heart [which is still warm and beating, thank you O'Great and Powerful Old One.])
Anyway! As you'd know this fantastical community - which I'm still so honoured to help admin - is a breeding ground for respect and acceptance. We continually try to uphold our status as a fun, nerdy, and hate-free/bully-free zone. Which has really been put to the test regarding some of our latest posts... If you happen to be new here, feel free to check out our 'About' section when you have the time.
That all being said- let's get on to the main part of the post.
Today (Or yesterday, depending on where you are in the world) marks the beginning of Asexual Awareness Week.
Now, you're probably thinking "the hell is that?" Easily put; it's a week where Asexuals are put into the spotlight, and Asexuality is discussed (like right now). Everyone knows about Heterosexuality, Homosexuality and even Bisexuality. But Asexuality is a sexuality that isn't discussed as much, and is even shunned - by heterosexuals and the lgbt+ community alike. I know what it's like to be shunned - as I said earlier, this is a very dear subject to me - as I, myself, am Asexual. I know what it's like to feel broken and bullied, and I would never, ever like to have anyone else experience those feelings of utter self-hatred. If there is even a 1% chance to make anyone get rid of such feelings, I would gladly do it in a heartbeat.
I'll start off with answering the big question: What is Asexuality? Asexuality is a sexuality where a person has a lack of sexual attraction to anyone. An Asexual has no - or very very little - desire for sexual activity. It is completely acceptable to have no desire for sex, you are not broken, or weak, you are simply Asexual.
Feel free to ask me any questions about Asexuality, either on post or in messages. Again, just a friendly reminder to be respectful and kind to one another, rudeness and hateful comments will not be tolerated.
