Anaconda, Bailey Jay, and Bodies : At Least 20 Children Dead After Magnitude-7.1 Earthquake Hit Mexico @balleralert At Least 20 Children Dead After Magnitude-7.1 Earthquake Hit Mexico – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the 32nd anniversary of the biggest earthquake to rattle Mexico’s capital, a magnitude-7.1 earthquake rocked central Mexico, leaving over 200 people dead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, the quake brought down at least 44 buildings, including the Enrique Rebsamen elementary school in Mexico City. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto visited the school hours after the tragedy to find the bodies of at least 20 children and two adults. However, about 30 children and eight adults are still missing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Emergency officials have begun recovery efforts to look for survivors as they rummage through the wreckage. The deadly quake came just eight days after a magnitude-8.1 earthquake hit Mexico’s southern Pacific coast. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, the city is built on a former lake bed, which intensifies the “shaking by factors of 100 or more,” a seismologist stated. “By comparison, the worst condition seen in Los Angeles during an earthquake is shaking amplified by a factor of five,” Lucy Jones said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Following the disaster, the U.S. State Department announced that it would be ready to provide assistance if needed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “We stand ready to provide assistance should our neighbors request our help. Our embassy in Mexico City has sent out public messages to U.S. citizens in Mexico, and the embassy stands ready to provide consular assistance to any U.S. citizens who may have been affected. We offer our condolences to any who were injured or lost loved ones.”

Memes, Starbucks, and Walmart: Mexicans protest Trump with massive boycott of U.S companies Walmart, McDonalds, Coke, Starbucks 👏👏👊✊🇲🇽 Via Inverse.com: "Tensions created by President Donald Trump’s plan for a border wall between the United States and Mexico have had an interesting side effect: Mexican national pride. And now it’s a hashtag: AdiosStarbucks! A boycott of goods from the United States popped up this week, under the hashtag including AdiosStarbucks and AdiosProductosGringos (goodbye white people-U.S. products) along with a slew of memes. The boycott’s hashtags started appearing on Thursday just about the time that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto canceled a meeting with President Donald Trump for next week following a heated debate over which nation would be paying for the wall. There’s been tension between the countries’ leaders and push-back against Trump by many Americans, but now Mexicans are also finding ways to also join in the fight. Mexicans that are boycotting have decided that they’d rather be supporting their own domestic businesses than continue giving their money to American ones. Along with Starbucks, Mexicans are calling out other large corporations in the United States including Walmart and McDonald’s. Some seem like they’re going to be totally fine with giving up Big Macs."
