For the people who missed the point, this post doesn’t say that cops never risk their lives - it’s inviting you to take a good long look at the characteristics of the people they DO protect and risk their lives for, and note that there is a huge disparity in how cops treat people based on race, socioeconomic status, etc. Also I love it when people use “coppin’ is DANGEROUS” to handwave the numerous civil rights violations cops are routinely guilty of in the process of “just following orders”. Plenty of jobs are dangerous. Plenty of jobs are more dangerous than being a cop. But cops seem to be the main ones stomping around demanding endless respect and unquestioning obedience just because their “job is dangerous”.

The study also highlighted potential reasons for the findings like criminal histories but found that they were not factors. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The same disparity was around 11 percent for 1998 to 2003 and 5 percent for 2003 to 2005, but skyrocketed to 15 percent for 2005 to 2007 and is close to 20 percent in the present day, according to previous USSC reports. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And according to another USSC report from 2010, the gaps "have increased steadily" since the Supreme Court ruled to increase judges' discretion in sentencing in the 2005 case of United States v. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) seems to have become an epidemic in the United States, with roughly 19% of Americans diagnosed. Meanwhile, in France, the diagnosis rate is only .5%. So what explains such a wide disparity? Well, first and foremost, one must recognize that ADHD is an extremely questionable "disorder." A few decades ago, ADHD would have just been called "boredom." In fact, even Dr. Edward C. Hamlyn of the Royal College of General Practitioners stated, "ADHD is fraud intended to justify starting children on a life of drug addiction." Confessing before his death, Leon Eisenberg—one of the "founding fathers" of ADHD as a psychiatric disorder—said, "ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease." In France, there are numerous cultural differences compared to the U.S. Generally, the French discourage the consumption of chemical-processed foods much more than in America. This is especially true for children in school, who often eat meals that are prepared by chefs-in-training using ingredients from local produce and livestock. With all the high fructose corn syrup, GMO foods, stimulants, allergens, etc. in our children's diets, no wonder they cannot focus or stay calm. Plus they are children! Children naturally tend to be active and energetic, which is why constraining them to an assigned seat in a prison-like classroom provokes misbehavior. Do schoolchildren have a "deficit in attention", or are they just bored out of their minds? When you cannot pay attention to a boring film, do you assume it is because you have a mental disorder that inhibits your ability to focus? Of course not! You walk out of the theater and demand a refund! Instead of questioning what we feed our kids or the schools we put them in, our default assumption is that there's something inherently wrong with our children. Calvin Klein, Fashion, and Kendall Jenner: CHANEL Model Recreates Major Fashion Ads, Skewers The Industry's Diversity Problem GUESS VIC RI 5/RAFFAEL DICK REUTER When JasmineTookes modeled the coveted “fantasy bra” at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Monday, it marked only the third time in the show’s 21-year run that a woman of color was chosen to make the brand’s ultimate fashion statement. That disparity reflects a pattern rampant in high fashion, where diversity is on the rise but startlingly far from the norm. The lack of representation in prominent fashion advertisements prompted Liberian-born, L.A.-based model DeddehHoward to take matters into her own hands.Howard’s aptly titled “Black Mirror” photo series captured her recreating some of fashion’s most iconic advertisements, replacing the likes of Michelle Williams for Louis Vuitton, Kendall Jenner for Calvin Klein and Candice Swanepoel for Victoria’s Secret. The project, which Howard told the Huffington Post took about three months from concept to completion, aims “to show the world what diversity is capable of.” Howard further explained on her website that she used the images to present her race in a more positive light than what is typically put forth by the media. “In a time where black people too often are in the media for being underrepresented at important events such as the Oscars, or make headlines for being targeted by the police, I felt it was time to do something positive and inspiring about my race,” she said. Howard said that while researching for the shoot, she and photographer Raffael Dickreuter were shocked to realize how many brands “truly never or almost never use black models.” Howard has firsthand experience with the struggle to diversify the industry. She said she’s been turned away from modeling agencies who told her they “already have a black model.” Calling this experience “bizarre,” she used the shoot to help emphasize the reality of the world we live in. “We live in a globalized world with nowadays many interracial couples producing mixed babies. Why can’t the big brands not embrace our diversity more and give all of us visibility?” she said. While she says she wasn’t prepared for “the big wave of response” to the project, which has garnered a slew of positive feedback 17thsoulja

Life, Saw, and Soon...: turtlenovas: It just hit me that, while everyone else’s first priority is survival, Eggsy’s is escape. I think it says a lot about him that his automatic instinct (even after he realizes what the others are up to), isn’t to survive and figure out how to escape later. To him, situations that require escape are always immediate. There’s no point trying to search for a way to breathe, because he needs to get out to real safety as quickly as possible. I do also know that this scene was meant to illustrate the disparity in practical knowledge for these situations between Eggsy and the other candidates, but I still find what it says about his instinctual priorities to be important. It really fits with what we saw of his life as an abuse victim. Like, of course you can put your hands up, and try your best to protect yourself in the midst of having your life threatened, but the real priority is to get somewhere the danger isn’t. Specifically, I’m remembering when Dean had the knife to his throat, the way he practically tumbled out of the place in desperation as soon as he was able. In this case, I suppose the parallel I’m drawing is that the breathing tubes are him putting his hands up and trying not to further antagonize, but trying the door and punching through the mirror are him scrambling away. Why find a breathing tube, when what you really need to do is escape the room? I only made this gifset because I like his armpits, but now I have feels about Eggsy. :{ ETA: Feel free to delete the commentary in reblogs if you want. XD

@wiltingwillowws this is why racism to white people is a MYTH

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you’re using this to prove a point? So fucking what? I’ve waiting in the hospital 3 hours WHEN MY ARM WAS BROKEN.

You can tag me in posts all you want. You can be racist to anyone. Period.

hospital wait times are shit for everyone. Whoopdy fuckin doo

Hidden variables, Salon, you useless piece of dried dog shit.

Higher population = higher wait times in hospitals.

What are the most population-dense cities in the US?

1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Huston
5. Philadelphia
6. Phoenix
7. San Antonio
8. San Diego
9. Dallas
10. Detroit

Unsurprisingly, the VAST MAJORITY of blacks and hispanics in the US live in these cities.

Whites, on the other hand, are more spread out among both highly populated areas, and those smaller, more rural areas in the mid-west which have virtually no blacks or hispanics. With this white population counted into the average, of course the figure for the wait time of white people would go down.

All Salon is reporting is literally that big cities have longer wait times than smaller ones.

GottdAM.

Wut am I supposed to do with all that info?

I’ve been enlightened.
